For Sally and Andy Alvis the personal touch is everything when it comes to running their businesses. The Farm Shop at Setley Ridge Vineyard in the New Forest, Hampshire, delights locals and tourists alike with its array of groceries and delicacies, as well as wine from the vineyard, while Mange-Tout Catering literally caters for the individual needs of a variety of functions and events.

But it was the personal touch that they were missing from their relationship with their previous accountants and what they were searching for when they were looking to change accountants and found Approved Accounting.

“Our previous accountants worked with us for around seven years, but following changes in the firm, we only saw them once for a meeting and had just a couple of calls with them, both with different people who were not familiar with our account or business, in two years” explains Sally Alvis, co-owner and manager of both businesses.

“They took a very long time to respond to a simple request and forever to complete a request,” she continues. “We really felt we had been left to our own devices and that our company’s identity had been lost with them.”

Approved Accounting now provides a full service package to Mange-Tout Catering and The Farm Shop, covering Xero support, VAT, accounting and tax advice, tax planning, commercial and business planning advice, and strategic planning. A change to their business structure has significantly reduced tax liabilities, new measures are in place to ensure tax efficiency and they now have someone to call on whenever they need it, and the confidence they will get the help they need promptly.

“Since starting work with Approved Accounting in January our 2015/16 accounts are already complete and we are now right up-to-date for the first time in a long time,” comments Sally. “The biggest difference has been the peace of mind we now feel we have. We know that nothing will be left unanswered, they always reply to a query the same day, often within the hour, and always deliver on what they promise.
